This week, Station 55 got a new addition to the apparatus bays.  Thanks to the 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, we were able to purchase and install a vehicle exhaust removal system.  The system provides 100% capture of harnful exhaust products from our vehicles.  We now have a safer cleaner environment inside our firehouse.  The system will enable us to perform maintenance on the trucks without filling the bays with exhaust fumes, especially during cold months when it isn't economical to open the doors. 

We also recently received our hydraulic extrication tools which were part of the same grant.  With the money awarded, we were able to purchase a speedway cutter, an O cutter, spreaders, a 30' ram, 40' ram and 60' ram, combi tool and gas powered unit.  Some of these tools are something we have never owned before and others replace equipment that we bought used several years ago.  All of the tools are a much needed addition to our apparatus.
